Contract Period: 9 Month (185 days with some variance depending on the year)

Position Summary
The Career & Technical Education (CTE)/ Design teacher instructs courses to students in grades 9-12 to prepare them to pursue the full IB Diploma, to earn industry certifications, and/or to consider future career opportunities. Using current technology, this instructor will teach courses that adhere to the district’s MYP & CTE curriculum and could include: entrepreneurship, business, and media, while adhering to the design cycle.
Position Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate knowledge of CTE pathways and credentialing requirements
- Possess ability and demonstrate willingness to teach International Baccalaureate (IB), both MYP & DP, including attendance at IB training which may include days in the summer months and/or weekends during the academic year;
- Establish a respectful environment of a diverse population of students, developing a classroom environment in which each student has the opportunity to think independently and express original ideas;
- Facilitate learning for all students, guiding and challenging them by using a variety of instructional methods, including integration and utilization of technology, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encourage exploration of ideas, and develop leadership qualities in preparation for any post-secondary career option;
- Take responsibility for student academic growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practices, using the IB framework & assessment criteria.
- Reflect on teaching practices, analyze student learning, development, and growth, and apply what is learned to improve instruction;
- Demonstrate leadership, advocating for the school and students while exhibiting high ethical standards;
- Demonstrate enthusiasm for collaboration with a team of administrators, teachers, and support staff;
- Communicate effectively and interact well with parents and other community members.
- Teach CTE/MYP courses exploring global contexts and following the design cycle.
- Collaborate with colleagues and the school community to enhance the teaching profession;
- Have a strong desire to extend learning experiences beyond the classroom, including participation in experiential education;
- Identify student needs and collaborate with other staff members in assessing and aiding students to solve health, attitude, and learning problems;
- Maintain confidentiality of all student information for the purpose of protecting students, staff, parents and the District;
- Communicate with parents and school counselors on the individual student’s progress;
- Participate in curriculum and other programs within the school and/or on a district level;
- Share in the sponsorship of student activities and participate in faculty meetings and committees,
- May plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals or student teachers and monitor standardized tests.
Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and a current Colorado initial or professional secondary teaching license; the candidate will need to pursue CTE credentialing upon hiring
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree
- IB MYP and/or DP experience and certification
- CTE credential(s)
- Minimum 5 years teaching at the high school level

- May be exposed to body fluids
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., bending, squatting, standing, reaching, sitting, walking, and stooping, occasional climbing, and repetitive motion
