The Aspen School District seeks a Teacher to begin duties in August 2024

 

Position Title: Kindergarten to 4th Grade Teacher

Department: Aspen Elementary School

Reports to: Aspen Elementary School Principal

Classification: Certified Full-time Exempt

Contract Period: 9 Month (185 days with some variance depending on the year)

Compensation: Certified Salary Schedule

  1. Position Summary
  • This position will focus upon student growth and achievement in the areas of K – 4th Grade mathematics, science, and reading. This teacher will create a supportive, positive class environment, establishing rapport with students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed as a solid foundation for elementary education.

II: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate expertise in literacy and mathematics and knowledge of all other content areas she or he teaches, including knowledge of the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of cognitive, social, and emotional development of the young child.
  • Establish a respectful environment of a diverse population of students, developing a classroom learning environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults and other children.
  • Facilitate learning for all students using a variety of instructional methods, integrating, and utilizing technology, to provide students with opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills, encourage exploration of ideas, and develop leadership qualities.
  • Reflect on teaching practices, analyze student learning, development, and growth and apply what is learned to improve instruction.
  • Demonstrate leadership, advocate for the school and students and exhibit high ethical standards.
  • Take responsibility for student academic growth using a variety of assessments and ongoing improvement of instructional practice.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for collaboration, using a Multiple Tiers of Support System (MTSS) process with a team of administrators, teachers, and support staff.

  • Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with young children and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation, and professional conduct
  • Contribute to the goals and success of all teams and team members through collaboration, cooperation, and flexibility in team discussions, activities, and decision-making
  • Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality

Experience and training in IB are preferred. This may include IB teaching, tutoring, or examining experience. Implement meaningful lessons and units in your classroom while meeting the IB Program requirements. Participate in IB professional development and workshops, that may be outside of contract time.

 

IV: Minimum Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
  • A current Colorado Teaching License with an endorsement in elementary education or the ability to obtain this licensure within 3 months of hire

V: Work Environment

  • Mostly clean and comfortable surroundings
  • Office environment; exposure to computer screens

VI: Essential Physical Requirements

  • Some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, and significant fine finger dexterity.
