Position Title: Middle School Volleyball Coach

Department: Aspen Middle School 

Reports to: Middle School Athletic Director

Classification: Classified Part-time Exempt

Contract Period: Seasonal (Renewed annually by the Athletic & Activities Director and Middle School Principal.)

Compensation: Stipend at the end of the season

 

 

I: Position Summary

  • The coach is responsible for planning, directing, and leading an education based athletic program that seeks to develop athletes of empathy and integrity.

II: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend all practices and games
  • Demonstrate integrity and leadership skills, strong organizational and communication skills, be attentive to detail, have the ability to lead and work independently as well as within a team
  • Manage oneself (is organized, prepared, and punctual; manages resources; meets deadlines; follow through on commitments; demonstrate appropriate physical appearance relative to job and environmental expectations) in a manner that enhances the image of public education
  • Act consistently in ways that directly support the missions of Aspen Middle School and the Aspen School District
  • Display a willingness to learn new information
  • Develop and maintain rapport and effective relationships with students and adults contacted in carrying out duties and responsibilities by using courtesy, diplomacy, collaboration, cooperation, support, and professional conduct
  • Contribute actively to the goals and success of all teams and team members through collaboration, cooperation, and flexibility (give and take) in team discussions, activities, and decision making
  • Maintain high ethical standards, legal responsibility, and confidentiality. 

III: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Accept the responsibility of the program and work with the student-athletes in the sport assigned
  • Provide life lessons that will positively impact the physical, social and emotional well-being of all who are involved.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of empathy, positivity, trust, responsibility, discipline & flexibility.
  • Developer, teacher, achiever and problem-solver.

IV: Minimum Qualifications

  • Must meet the coaching requirements of CHSAA and/or the State Department of Education.

V: Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience coaching in an Education Based athletic program.
  • Certified teacher.
  • Playing and/or coaching experience. 

VI: Work Environment

  • Mostly clean and comfortable environment, including exposure to computer screens
  • Some time spent outside, subject to various weather conditions

VII: Essential Physical Requirements

  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., bending, squatting, standing, reaching, sitting, walking, and stooping, occasional climbing, and repetitive motion.
